REVIEWS

On this page I am going to have a review baseball equipment that has to do with catching. The reviews will be written by me and are based on my experiences with that brand. I am going to rate them with the star system. The star system works like this:

Quality:
Lowest Quality: ★☆☆☆☆
Highest Quality: ★★★★★

Cost:
Lowest Cost: ★☆☆☆☆
Highest Cost: ★★★★★

With that said, you don't always have to buy the most expensive equipment on the market. However, like a lot of things, sometimes you do “get what you pay for”. Buy equipment that fits your body type and is comfortable. Some players prefer a large mitt, and others prefer a small one...and that is perfectly ok! You should use the equipment that feels right to you.

If you want more information about a particular product, click on it's picture. If you have questions about equipment post them on the Message Board.

Be sure to see my COUPONS page before buying any equipment online!

ALL-STAR EQUIPMENT

Quality: ★★★★★
Cost: ★★★★☆

I believe that All-Star makes the highest quality catching equipment available. This is one of the situations where you get what you pay for. Their gear is a little more expensive than some other companies, but it is also the highest quality. They have the most popular mitt in the major leagues with the CM3000SBT. Currently 34% of Major League catchers wear the CM3000 Mitt, 19% of Big League catchers wear the chest protector and shin guards, and 23% of catchers wear the MVP400 (System Seven series mask). Currently, there is only one other catcher in the Major Leagues, Ryan Hanigan of the Reds, who wears a hockey style mask other than All-Star (6-25-10)! The only reason that these numbers aren’t higher is because that All-Star is a family owned and operated business, and they don’t try to compete against the “big name” companies by writing athletes big endorsement checks. I dare you to find a catcher who doesn’t prefer All-Star catchers gear! Here is a picture of me in 2006 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Atlanta Braves organization)...notice the mitt that I’m wearing! Big Leaguers that wear All-Star: Coming soon!

NUTTY BUDDY PROTECTIVE CUP

Quality: ★★★★★
Cost:★★★★★

Nutty Buddy

The Nutty Buddy protective cup is, without question, the best protective cup on the market. When looking for a cup, there are really only two things to consider: Is it comfortable, and does it keep you protected. The Nutty Buddy doesn't disappoint in either of these areas. The design is a little different than some of the other protective cups on the market and that is what makes it so comfortable. There was a lot of thought put into this design! It is a little more expensive than some of the other cups, but spending $30 on this should be a no brainer!
